My journey into Traditional Chinese Medicine actually began after six years of studying musical performance on the cello at University in Adelaide and in Hobart. I was at a crossroads: should I continue studying the cello overseas or pursue a new career path? I knew I had a passion for living a healthy natural lifestyle and a true desire to help others achieve the same, so I completed a course in massage therapy and began practicing as a Remedial Massage Therapist. While furthering my studies I came across a type of Chinese massage called Tui Na which I added to my practice. I was fascinated by the holistic energy system underpinning the use of Tui Na, and wanted to learn more so I enrolled in a Bachelor of Health Science (Acupuncture) at Endeavour College of Natural Health and in 2014 I graduated with a Bachelor of Health Science (Acupuncture) with distinction.
I would like to share one of my own personal experiences with the healing powers of Chinese Medicine. In 2013 I had the opportunity to further my study and complete a clinical internship in Nanning, China. While there I became severely ill. I contracted a stomach bug and began experiencing a tooth ache with unbearable pain. After enduring this for more then a week I asked one of the Professors for a treatment. He gave me an acupuncture treatment using one needle and gave me a prescription for Chinese Herbal Medicine. The tooth ache immediately subsided and after taking the herbs for several days I returned to good health and my belief and love for Chinese Medicine grew even stronger.
Since graduating I have become a mother to two beautiful souls, Saskia and Marcel. I love the quote by Lao Tzu, "Life is a series of natural and spontaneous changes...." This I see with my growing children and with the way my practice is ever expanding through further study and life experience.
My approach is patient-focused and to get to the root cause of ones health complaints. I utilize all the wonderful tools of Chinese Medicine as well as other modalities I have learnt on my journey. I love to educate and empower people to achieve their goals, to live the most balanced and healthy life possible, emotionally physically and spiritually. I have a special interest in women's health, pain management and help reduce the stress and anxiety in our every day lives.
Outside of work I love to practice Yoga, go for walks on the beach and in nature with my kids in tow, play the Cello and just be with my family and friends.
